Welcome to the website for Troop 246 in Moraga, California.
This website can only be accessed by scouts and parents of Troop 246.

But ...if you are here to learn about our troop, here's an overview:

General Information about Troop 246
T246 is a scout-led, scout-run organization, where boys learn and apply key life skills through the use of the patrol-method framework.  Every meeting or outing includes multiple opportunities for our scouts to practice teamwork, leadership, safety, self-reliance, planning & communication skills, while developing an appreciation for the outdoors.

Our troop consists of boys with diverse interests, and we offer flexibility for those looking to include scouting within their already busy schedules. With regards to rank advancement and merit badges, we allow the scouts to “go at your own pace”, where they can work quickly, or take their time as they progress towards Eagle.  (if they choose to pursue Eagle)

Monthly Meetings: (Sept- May)
Meetings 7:30 – 8:30 PM at the Scout Hut on Moraga Way are 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.

Monthly Outings:
We have at least one camping trip every month during the school year.  These are 1-2 night events, typically within a few hours of the bay area.  Rain or shine, we actually learn more and create more memories when the conditions aren’t ideal.  For this school year, our calendar includes activities like whitewater rafting on the South Fork of the American River, Pinnacles National Park, Point Reyes, Yosemite, skiing at Bear Valley and more!

Summer Camps
T246 visits a different BSA scout camp every summer, for a week of fun and learning.  This summer we will be visiting Camp Wolfeboro in the Sierra Foothills.  Previous adventures have included Camp Royaneh near the Russian River, Camp Cherry Valley on Catalina Island, and Camp Parsons on the Olympic Peninsula.

Additionally, every few years our older scouts (14+) will have the opportunity to visit a BSA High Adventure Camp.  This summer we will be riding horses at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Service Above All”
Giving back is an important focus of Boy Scouts.  Our troop partners with the Moraga Rotary Club to volunteer within the community.  A recent highlight was helping with the construction of the new All-Access Children’s Playground at the Moraga Commons.
