Scout Service Log

Scouts & Families:

Many have recently inquired about how service hours are recorded.  Here's the handy dandy checklist for service hour reporting as of this moment in time.  First, scouts need to get their Boy Scout Handbook and turn to page 445 entitled Scout Service Log.  All approved service projects get logged there.  And there is even another log on page 447 (and I'm sure many of our guys will add a few more!).  Second, the scout/family sends an email to Lisa Wong (famous for many things but renowned as the mother of Max Lee) telling her the details that are recorded on that page.  Her email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  Lisa updates the Advancement Records with this important service information.  Service Hours become particularly important for the completion of rank requirements after the initial ranks.  Third, for those scouts working on the Citizenship in the Community merit badge, you will need to discuss and report your charitable organization and 8 hours with Liz Faoro (mother of William F.) who is the counselor for that merit badge.  And, for example, those working on the Star or Life rank please note that the Citizenship in the Community merit badge 8 hours are in addition to the 6 required for that rank.

So pull those Handbooks off the shelf and start logging your service hours!!  Troop announced service projects that you participate in should be included as well as Scoutmaster approved projects.  If you are unclear as to what should be counted as a service project please consult with your Scoutmasters.
